The company developing Elasticsearch and Kibana announced the release of future product versions under an open source license. AGPL. Previously, the core products were licensed under the Apache license, but in 2021 the company switched to a commercial license to prevent Amazon from offering their products as a service on its AWS platform without compensating the developer. Amazon, in turn, announced the release of its own fork â OpenSearch is licensed under the Apache license.
The release of new versions under AGPL is planned within the coming weeks.
