An experimental release of the open implementation of the Win32 API — Wine 9.18 has been published. Since the release of 9.17, 18 bug reports have been closed and 274 changes have been made.
The most significant changes:
- A new backend has been introduced to support the Media Foundation framework, based on the use of FFmpeg.
- Initial support for network sessions has been implemented in the DirectPlay API.
- A new Desktop Control Panel applet has been added, featuring a management interface for settings.
- Bug reports related to the operation of applications have been closed: WordSmith 9.0, Steinberg Download Assistant, Repaper Studio, Gigapixel, msiexec.
- Bug reports related to the operation of games have been closed: Caesar 3, Neighbours from Hell 1-2, Warlords III: Darklords Rising.
