Last week, an update to nicotine-plus, the GUI client for the peer-to-peer network Soulseek, occurred (the official website, Wikipedia), which is designed for distributing music through user uploads. The project's goal is to create a free, lightweight, and functional alternative to the official proprietary Soulseek client, written in Qt. The development of nicotine-plus utilizes the Python3 programming language and the GTK graphical toolkit.
The application includes an interface for managing the downloading and sharing of files, supports searching for files in other users' uploads, viewing others' shares, personal and group chat, and editing user profiles. It can also operate in minimized mode from the system tray. nicotine-plus is distributed under the copyleft license GNU GPLv3+ and is available for GNU/Linux, *BSD, Solaris, macOS, and Windows operating systems.

Improvements in release 3.3.5
- added a subcommand /plugin reload for reloading plugins;
- added keyboard shortcuts for collapsing and expanding tree lists;
- a switch for personal invitations to rooms has been added to the 'Chats' settings section;
- a list of all room participants who are not currently connected to the private room has been added;
- now, unfinished downloads will be removed from the disk when clearing downloads in the 'Downloads' tab;
- the accuracy of speed display in the interface has been improved;
- transmissions from users with the status 'offline' will be displayed in the general list in gray;
- exiting through the tray icon menu will prompt for confirmation if there are active shares;
- the situation of entering an incorrect password in the 'Setup Assistant' will be handled from within the wizard, without opening the settings window;

- reduced memory and disk space consumption used by the IP2Location database;
- for macOS and Windows platforms, the GTK4 interface will be used by default unless the environment variable NICOTINE_GTK_VERSION=3 is set.
