Firmware Updater, or fwupd — a project aimed at simplifying and enhancing the reliability of the automatic firmware update process in Linux. By default, code is downloaded from the repository LVFS (Linux Vendor Firmware Service).
The project is licensed under LGPLv2.1. Support is available in the IRC channel #fwupd on LiberaChat and on GitHub.
A minor update 1.9.25 was released by developer Richard Hughes last week, primarily including bug fixes (the firmware size check for Synaptics MST has been corrected, zero-length device names are no longer installed, etc.). It also added support for the following devices:
- Algoltek devices with sector erase support;
- Dell K2 dock;
- Intel USB4 hub 5787
- more scaler devices from MediaTek;
- Nordic HID devices with DFU v1 support.
