A lightweight Live distribution AntiX 23.2 has been released, built on a Debian package base and aimed at installation on outdated hardware. The release is based on Debian 12's package base, but comes without the system manager systemd and with eudev instead of udev. For initialization, either runit or sysvinit can be used. The default user environment is formed using the IceWM window manager, but fluxbox, jwm, and herbstluftwm are also included in the distribution. ISO image sizes are 2.1 GB (full, includes LibreOffice and 4 window managers – IceWM, fluxbox, jwm, and herbstluftwm), 1.2 GB (basic), 564 MB (without graphics), and 249 MB (network installation). Builds are prepared for x86_64 and i386 architectures.
The new release synchronizes with the Debian 12 (Bookworm) package base. The full build offers the Linux kernel 6.1.105, while the other builds use 5.10.224. Application versions have been updated, for example, LibreOffice 24.8.2, Firefox 128.3.0esr, Seamonkey 2.53.19.1. The smtube application for viewing YouTube has been discontinued.

Additionally, the lightweight MX Linux 23.4 distribution has been updated, created as a result of the collaboration of communities formed around the antiX and MEPIS projects. The release is based on a Debian package base with improvements from the antiX project and packages from its own repository. The distribution uses the sysVinit initialization system and its own tools for system setup and deployment. Both 32-bit and 64-bit builds (x86_64, i386) with the Xfce desktop (2.3 GB) are available for download, as well as 64-bit builds with the KDE desktop (2.8 GB) and builds (1.8 GB) with the Fluxbox window manager.
In the new release:
- It has been synchronized with the Debian 12.5 package base. Application versions have been updated. As in previous releases, the sysVinit initialization system continues to be used by default, and systemd can be installed as an option. The package with the Linux kernel has been updated to version 6.1.106. The build with extended hardware support uses kernel 6.10.10 with patches from the liqourix project.
- Components of Xfce 4.18 have been updated.
- In the MX Package Installer, all installed packages are displayed in the "Enabled", "test", and "backports" tabs, rather than just the installed packages available in the configured repository. Differences in versions of packages that are installed and those available in the repository are more distinctly highlighted. The "flatpak" tab has been enhanced with a filtering option to show only verified packages.
- In the live-usb-maker utility, the default format for creating live drives with encrypted partitions is now LUKS2.
- The interface of MX-usb-unmounter has been improved, adding an option to show an indicator in the system tray when an external drive is inserted.
- In pipewire-setup-mx, the stability of pipewire/wireplumber has been enhanced for KDE users.
- MX Tweak has added a setting to enable or disable the autostart handler for notifications about updates appearing in the system tray.
- The build based on the Fluxbox window manager has added a job-scheduler interface for crontab configuration.
