The release of the memory testing program Memtest86+ 7.20 is now available. The program is not tied to operating systems and can be launched directly from the BIOS/UEFI firmware or from a bootloader to perform a complete memory check. In case of issues, the built-in bad memory mapping in Memtest86+ can be used in the Linux kernel to exclude problematic areas using the memmap option. The project code is distributed under the GPLv2 license.
Key innovations:
- Support for the LoongArch (LA664) processor architecture has been added.
- Support for Intel processors based on the Arrow Lake microarchitecture (Core Ultra Series 2) and AMD processors based on the Zen5 microarchitecture (Ryzen 9000) has been added.
- Preliminary support for the memory architecture of NUMA (Non-Uniform Memory Access) multiprocessor systems has been implemented.
