This decision was made based on a recommendation from the committee responsible for maintaining the code of conduct within the Linux kernel developer community (CoC Committee). It has been confirmed that the reason for the suspension was the insult directed at Michal Hocko without subsequent validation of the ability to participate further in technical discussions without personal attacks.
In response, Kent Overstreet published a copy of a personal letter to Michal Hocko that was sent in September, two days after the insulting message. In the letter, Kent apologized to Michal and explained the internal motivations that led to his outburst (the desire to ensure everything works and the painful reaction to the neglect of issues leading to malfunctions). Kent also mentioned general thoughts on community interaction that align with yesterday's publication.
