The UBports project, which has taken over the development of the mobile platform Ubuntu Touch after Canonical stepped back, has introduced the OTA-7 Focal update (over-the-air).

The results of memory consumption testing have been published for a code that creates a million concurrently running coroutines. The testing was conducted for a sample program implemented in the programming languages Rust, C#, Go, Java, Python, and JavaScript.

In Rust, tasks were created using the Tokio framework and based on the async_std library; in C# — with API List(), in JavaScript — async/await in Node.js, in Python — asyncio, in Go — goroutine, and in Java — coroutines. The versions and configurations used: Rust 1.82, .NET 9.0.100 with NativeAOT, Go 1.23.3, OpenJDK/GraalVM 23.0.1, NodeJS 23.2.0, Python 3.13.0.

Results:

  • Running a single task to evaluate memory consumption at runtime.

  • Running 10,000 tasks.
