On December 2, 2024, a new version of Qt Creator 15 was released — a free IDE for developing in C, C++, JavaScript, and QML, developed by Trolltech (Digia) for use with the Qt framework, featuring a debugger graphical interface and visual interface development tools using both QtWidgets and QML. Supported compilers: GCC, Clang, MinGW, MSVC, Linux ICC, GCCE, RVCT, WINSCW.
This update includes the following key enhancements:
- Expanded platform support: Native support for Windows on ARM has been introduced, allowing development of applications on this architecture without issues.
- New themes: Visual elements have been updated with new light and dark themes that offer higher contrast and optimized spacing.
- Extensions: The extension mode has been improved, enabling them to provide more detailed descriptions using Markdown. Work on the API for Lua extensions continues, and an interactive shell for Lua has been added.
- Axivion support: The official Axivion plugin is now available in Qt Creator, enhancing code analysis and integration with other tools.
- Projects: Improvements have been made for working with CMake projects, including the ability to navigate from targets in the project view to CMakeLists.txt files, as well as support for the FOLDER property for targets.
- Git: New options for working with Git have been added, including visual indicators of file status in the project tree and enhanced hints for Instant Blame.
- Crash reports: Automatic sending of crash reports on Windows and macOS via Google Crashpad and Sentry.io has been introduced.
- New tutorials: Updated tutorials from Qt Academy have been integrated directly into the welcome screen.
Qt Creator 15 is available for download in both open-source and commercial versions.
