A new version has been released MiniOS 4, a lightweight and modular Linux distribution intended for use on removable media.
MiniOS is a Linux distribution for removable drives based on Debian, known for its modularity and flexibility. It allows users to easily customize the system to their needs and use it on various devices. MiniOS supports the XFCE desktop environment and has been actively developed since late 2020.
Key changes and improvements in MiniOS 4:
- Only two editions are available for download instead of six: Standard and Toolbox.
- The new Toolbox edition is a multifunctional tool for system administrators, featuring a wide range of utilities for PC maintenance and data recovery.
- The Standard edition (for amd64) now includes additional drivers for wireless adapters and drivers for modern Intel sound cards.
- The visual design has been significantly revamped and improved.
- All MiniOS tools for system customization and module creation have been enhanced.
- All MiniOS-specific utilities have been translated into de, en, es, fr, it, pt_BR, ru languages.
- Numerous changes aimed at improving the user experience.
- Images now contain all languages supported by Debian. The desired language can be selected by entering sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales in the console.
