The beta version of a rather interesting distribution has been released Chimera Linux. Unlike other distributions, Chimera is distinguished by the absence of GNU utilities and libraries, using code from BSD systems instead. The build process utilizes LLVM and musl a memory allocator mimalloc from Microsoft. The initialization system included is Dinit. The default desktop environment is GNOME. The package manager for the distribution is APK (from Alpine Linux).
Chimera is a binary distribution with pre-built packages for x86_64, ARM AArch64, POWER, and RISC-V architectures. For enthusiasts, a source code build is also available.
