The release of the Android application Winlator 9.0 has been published, providing a wrapper over Wine and the Box86 and Box64 emulators for running Windows applications on the Android platform. Winlator creates a Linux environment based on Ubuntu with Mesa, DXVK, D8VK, Vkd3d, and CNC DDraw, where Windows applications compiled for the x86 architecture are executed on ARM devices with Android using an emulator and Wine. The project code is distributed under the MIT license. The APK package size is 190 MB.
In the new version:
- An experimental Vulkan driver Vortek (libvulkan_vortek.so) has been added.
- Options for installing the Box64, Turnip, and DXVK components have been added.
- The performance of the ALSA sound subsystem plugin has been improved.
- The ability to force full-screen mode has been enhanced (useful for games with low screen resolutions).
- The Box64 emulator has been updated to version 0.3.2.
- Support for the game Ghost Song has been added.
- Changes have been made to improve the performance of the X server.
