Debian developers have announced the release freeze plan for Debian 13 'Trixie'. The Debian 13 release is expected in the second half of 2025.
On March 15, 2025, the first stage of the package freeze will begin, during which 'transitions' (updates to packages that require adjustments to dependencies of other packages, resulting in temporary removal of packages from Testing) will be halted, as well as updates to packages necessary for building (build-essential).
On April 15, 2025, a soft freeze of the package base will take place, during which the acceptance of new source packages will stop and the reintroduction of previously removed packages will be closed.
On May 15, 2025, a hard freeze will be implemented before the release, completely halting the transfer of key packages and packages without autopkgtests from the unstable branch to testing, initiating a phase of intensive testing and fixing release blocking issues.
Shortly after the hard freeze, a full freeze will be conducted, covering all packages. The date for the full freeze has yet to be determined.
