The release of GCodeWorkShop has taken place, a CNC program editor written in C++ and distributed under GPL3.
The new version includes settings that affect the opening and saving of files:
- File encoding selection. Some CNC systems allow the use of non-Latin characters in comments, which are located in the second half of the code page. The encoding selection enables the correct display of such characters.
- Removal of characters from the second half of the code page when opening files.
- Removal of control characters when opening files. Older CNC systems could add additional control characters when transmitted via a serial port, which the editor may not display correctly. This option allows the removal of control characters except for carriage return and newline characters.
- Removal of additional blank lines. Some CNC systems may insert blank lines after each program line when writing to removable media. This option allows for the recognition and removal of such additional blank lines.
Several bugs have been fixed, including a crash with Qt-5.6.
Binary builds have been prepared for Debian, Ubuntu, and Windows.
