The PuTTY 0.83 release has been generated, a client for the SSH, Telnet, Rlogin, and SUPDUP protocols, provided with a built-in terminal emulator and supporting operation in Unix-like systems and Windows. The source code of the project is available under the MIT license.
The new version provides support for key exchange based on the ML-KEM (CRYSTALS-Kyber) algorithm, which is resistant to attacks by quantum computers. ML-KEM uses cryptographic methods based on solving lattice theory problems, with solving times that do not differ on classical and quantum computers. The second improvement in this release is the support for filenames with Unicode characters that are not present in the system code page, in the file selection dialog on the Windows platform (such names are not yet supported when saving sessions).
