The latest release of the open-source chemical process simulator has been released DWSIMThe closest proprietary analogues are the HYSYS and Aspen Plus packages.
The main change is the move from Mono to .NET 8 for launch Linux version.
DWSIM can work under Linux, Windows, macOS, there are applications for Android and Apple with reduced functionality.
DWSIM can simulate steady-state vapor-liquid, vapor-liquid-liquid, solid-liquid and aqueous electrolyte equilibrium processes using the following thermodynamic models:
- Hermodynamic models: CoolProp, Peng-Robinson equation of state, Peng-Robinson-Stroyek-Vera (PRSV2), Soave-Redlich-Kwong, Lee-Kesler, Lee-Kesler-Ploecker, UNIFAC(-LL), Modified UNIFAC (Dortmund), Modified UNIFAC (NIST), UNIQUAC, NRTL, Chao-Seader, Grayson-Streed, Extended UNIQUAC, Raoult's law, IAPWS-IF97 steam tables, IAPWS-08 seawater, oil.
- Units: mixer, splitter, separator, pump, compressor, expander, heater, cooler, valve, pipe segment, pruned column, heat exchanger, reactors (conversion, displacement, stirred tank, equilibrium and Gibbs reactor), distillation column, simple absorbers, reflux absorbers, component separator, solids separator, continuous filter and diaphragm.
