Gnome developers will remove unnecessary features from C++

As everyone knows, the C++ programming language is perhaps the largest in terms of volume among programming languages. Even programmers who have been writing in it for decades cannot boast that they know it fully. Consequently, the C++ standards committee made the tough decision that to keep the language competitive against emerging languages like Rust, all legacy features written by obscure goblins in the hairy eighties need to be removed. This will be aided by well-known developers from the Gnome community, who once removed all unnecessary features from their desktop environment, making it unparalleled. They will eliminate features until they have stripped away all the 'pluses' and reached C, from which C++ originally emerged, but they will not stop there; they will leave only the minimal C.

In particular:

  • templates will be removed and replaced with optional dynamic typing (the performance drop will be negligible for modern computers)
  • exceptions will be replaced with error codes in the Go style like if err != nil
  • the need for build systems will be eliminated; instead, there will be a package manager in the PHP composer style
  • multiple inheritance will be removed along with free functions; everything will now be an object, and all objects will inherit from the base class Object
  • undefined behavior cannot be completely eliminated due to Stockholm syndrome among developers, so all UB will automatically wrap in a unit test that runs 10 times, and the programmer will be informed of which behavior the compiler chose in most cases

The founder of the language, Bjarne Stroustrup, has already expressed skepticism about the changes, arguing that Gnome developers do not use either C++ or Gnome.
