Oracle has released the Solaris 11.4 SRU 81 (Support Repository Update), which includes a series of significant changes and improvements for the Solaris 11.4 branch. To install the fixes proposed in the update, simply execute the command 'pkg update'. Users can also take advantage of the free edition of Solaris 11.4 CBE (Common Build Environment), developed using a continuous release model for new versions.
Among the changes in the new version:
- Support for CTF 3 (Compact Type Format) has been added, which ensures compact storage of information about C types, relationships between functions, and debugging symbols. Support for CTF generation has been added to the dynamic linker (ld -z ctf).
- The bootloader has been upgraded to versions GRUB 2.12 and Shim 15.8.
- Login timeout processing has been moved to the pam_unix_auth module. Added the possibility of automatic session unlocking without passwords.
- In non-global isolated zones with init and zsched processes, virtual process identifiers (PID) 1 and 0 have been mapped. Time synchronization has been ensured during zone migration.
- A setting has been added to prohibit sending ICMP packets with service unavailability messages.
- The getpeereid function has been added to libc.
- Support for installation archives compressed using ustar, xustar, and pax has been added when deploying isolated zones of Solaris 10.
- Support for users with root privileges has been added in sulogin.
- The PHP interpreter has been updated to PHP 8.4.
- Options for configuring ldmd log detail ('ldm set-logctl') have been added. The output of 'ldm list' has been improved with multi-column formatting.
- The versions of programs have been updated, including LLVM/Clang 19, Golang 1.23.8, Java 8u451, MySQL 8.0.41, git 2.48.1, ruby 3.1.7, xorg-server to 21.1.16, ImageMagick 7, OpenLDAP 2.6.9, gtk3 3.24.48, gtk4 4.14.5, python 3.13.1, samba 4.21.3.
