The release of the SeaMonkey 2.53.21 internet application suite has been published, combining a web browser, mail client, NNTP conference client, RSS/Atom feed aggregator, and WYSIWYG HTML editor Composer into one product. Pre-installed add-ons include the IRC client ChatZilla, the web developer tools DOM Inspector, and the calendar-planner Lightning. The new release carries fixes and changes from the current Firefox codebase (SeaMonkey 2.53 is based on the Firefox 60.8 browser engine with security-related fixes and some improvements from the current branches of Firefox).
Among the changes in the new version:
- In ChatZilla, menus have been reorganized, the logic for hiding elements has been revised, user list display has been improved, unused code has been cleaned up, and the plugin installation dialog has been streamlined.
- In Composer, the ability to add the moz-do-not-send attribute to links and images has been implemented.
- In the mail client, the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+U has been added for underlining text while composing a message.
- A context menu for searching phrases selected in the message composition interface or in the Composer window has been implemented.
