The OpenAPV 0.2 library is available, featuring a reference implementation of the APV video codec.

The release of the OpenAPV library has been published, providing a reference implementation of the APV (Advanced Professional Video) video codec, designed for professional video recording and processing without quality loss. The library code is written in C and is distributed under the BSD license. The project is developed by the Academy Software Foundation, established by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (USA) and the Linux Foundation to promote the use of open-source software in the filmmaking process.

The APV format ensures high throughput and low complexity of intra-frame coding, as well as guarantees no quality loss during re-encoding. It supports resolutions of 2K, 4K, and 8K, HDR10/10+ standards for extended dynamic range usage in video, frame tiling for parallel encoding/decoding, various color sampling formats, multi-view video, and the addition of metadata (depth, transparency, preview data). To speed up performance, the OpenAPV library supports multi-threaded encoding and decoding, along with optimizations utilizing advanced command sets like NEON (ARM) and SSE/AVX (x86).

The new version adds support for APV families, defining standard codec configurations that meet specific size and bitrate requirements. The latest revisions of the specification have been taken into account. Support for profiles 422-12, 444-10, 444-12, 4444-10, 4444-12, and 400-10 has been added. Optimizations have been implemented to reduce encoding and decoding time. Secure methods for accessing the bitstream buffer and managing metadata have been realized. The API has been expanded.
