Developers from Mozilla have announced the creation of an official repository with rpm packages, allowing the installation of nightly builds of Firefox on openSUSE, SUSE, Fedora, RHEL, CentOS, and various RHEL-like distributions. A similar repository with deb packages for Debian and Ubuntu has been available since 2023.
Using the rpm repository enables the use of built-in distribution capabilities for installing and updating packages. The packages are built with additional optimizations and security flags in the compiler. The publication of builds is integrated into the main release preparation process of Firefox. Included is a .desktop file for placing a shortcut on the desktop and in the distribution menu.
