The message states that group members can decide for themselves whether to share the message history with newly added users. New participants will be able to see up to 100 old messages sent in the group over the past 14 days. It is noted that 'messages shared using this feature are highlighted in a different color, making it easier for new participants to recognize them in the conversation.'
The ability to access old messages for new group participants is in high demand. This feature is already present in many messengers, for example, in Telegram. Thanks to this feature, new group participants can quickly grasp the essence of the latest discussions and obtain necessary information, depending on the context of the group chat.
It is not specified when the new feature will appear in stable versions of WhatsApp and become publicly available. It is likely to occur after the testing phase involving a limited number of beta users.
