Today, GStreamer 1.28 has been released — the latest addition to the widely used open-source multimedia platform.
In version 1.28, efforts continue to rewrite more functions in the Rust programming language to ensure safe memory handling. GStreamer now includes a YOLOX object detector. Developers using Rust can create real-time video analysis applications by adding these new elements to their media pipeline.
Additionally:
- Improvements have been made to output elements;
- support for seamless looping without pauses has been added via GstPlay;
- JPEG file handling with HDR has been fixed in the JPEG parser;
- the Matroska demuxer can handle uncompressed 4K video;
- issues with MP4 demuxing have been resolved in Qtdemux;
- additional fixes and improvements.
