A port of the GTK+ 1.3 library has been prepared, running on Windows 11 and compiled using modern development tools MSVC 2022 and CMake. All standard examples work (helloworld, testgtk). The result looks authentic, with memory consumption at startup for the examples being 1.7 MB. Plans include writing a rendering library for the GDK backend that will allow the use of SDL 1.2 and SDL3, expanding the range of supported modern systems.
GTK+ 1.3 has been chosen for porting as a representative of the "golden era" of user interface development, possessing advantages such as widget implementation based on basic GDK primitives; lightweight interface element layout without unnecessary overhead for CSS parsing; a simple GObject object model; and native GDK Win32 that interacts with Windows directly without unnecessary layers.
