On February 26, the release of version 26.3.0 of the cross-platform multi-format electronic dictionary took place. GoldenDict-ng – a fork of the dictionary GoldenDict.
Dictionary capabilities:
- Support local dictionaries in formats: MDict, StarDict, ABBYY Lingvo DSL and .lsa/.dat, XDXF, Zim, Aard and Aard 2 (Slob), DictD, Epwing, SDictionary, Babylon and Babylon glossary builder, files with sounds in directories and combined in zip archives.
- Support network sources: Wikipedia and Wiktionary, DICT protocol, LinguaLibre and Forvo, any websites supporting word search typed in the address bar.
- Support other sources: from other applications, text-to-speech, morphology dictionaries, transliteration.
- Search across multiple sources simultaneously.
- Full-text search in local dictionaries using the Xapian.
- Integration with Anki.
- And much more.
The dictionary is written in C++ using the Qt 6 framework and is distributed under the GNU GPL 3 license.
Key Changes:
- Added a delay for initializing the "popup" window;
- converting sources to a modern HTML structure;
- using Wayland by default unless another platform is specified;
- removed the network caching setting;
- using Unicode normalization when creating full-text indexes and searching;
- added the capability of "whitelists" for network sources;
- other improvements and bug fixes.
