Release of PortableGL 0.100, an OpenGL 3 implementation in C

The release of the PortableGL 0.100 project is now available, developing a software implementation of the OpenGL 3.x graphics API, entirely written in C. Theoretically, PortableGL can be used in any application that accepts a texture or framebuffer as input. The code is structured as a single header file and is distributed under the MIT license.

The project has defined goals such as portability, compliance with the OpenGL API, ease of use, simple code, and high performance. Applications mentioned include teaching concepts of building graphics APIs, working with 3D graphics on systems without a GPU, and integrating OpenGL support into specific operating systems that have not ported the Mesa3D package. Among the completed projects using PortableGL is the port of the Minecraft-like game Craft.

The new version continues to expand the features and capabilities of OpenGL: OpenGL functions for handling texture parameters have been implemented, as well as the GLSL functions texelFetch[1-3]D(). Support has been added for selecting the pixel format at compile time and using any 32- and 16-bit color buffer formats. Formats PGL_D24S8 and PGL_D16 have been implemented. The ability to specify a predefined memory configuration has been introduced.
