The choice of edition has been moved to the installer interface — one ISO allows deploying different configurations. Package lists are generated dynamically, depending on the selected edition — "Alt Server" or "Alt Domain."
For debugging and compatibility, two items have been added to the boot menu of the installer: "Safe Mode" and "Change serial console."
New applications "Alt Components," "Alt Packages," "Alt Services," and "Alt System Information" are available from the menu.
In the "Alt Components" and "Alt Packages" applications, mechanisms to protect the system from accidental deletion of critically important packages are in place. (Menu → Tools → System):
- Edition protection.
- Protection of manual installations. It is recommended to leave these settings at their defaults; however, in the application interface, these prohibitions can be disabled.
The "Alt Services" application allows system administrators to quickly deploy a typical configuration of services in a GUI without delving into configuration files. In the current version, the following are available:
- Samba AD: deployment and management of the domain (controller).
- Chrony: NTP configuration.server. For administrators and developers, the ability to extend the set of services has been implemented.
Password management for local users on computers in the directory service has been implemented — LAPSv2 schema for Samba DC.
