Quietly and inconspicuously released DavMail 6.6. DavMail is a free gateway that allows connecting regular email clients and calendar applications to Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 through familiar protocols POP, IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV, CardDAV, and LDAP. For those who still try to live without Outlook while working with Microsoft infrastructure, this is a significant update.
The developers focused not on external changes, but on improving compatibility and resolving accumulated issues. The main focus was on fixes related to IMAP compatibility and support for Office 365 authentication via device code flow, which is particularly relevant given the ongoing changes in Microsoft’s login mechanisms. The project also adjusted the behavior of the built-in OIDC client by default.
For Linux users, it's noteworthy that DavMail now uses XDG-compliant configuration file locationby default. This makes integration with modern desktop systems cleaner and more predictable. Meanwhile, the developers made several applied fixes for CalDAV, CardDAV, and SMTP, meaning the update touches not only email but also related synchronization functions.
