Alkimia Interactive's director Reinhard Pollice shared insights in an interview about the team's approach to creating a remake of the iconic fantasy role-playing game "Gothic" by Piranha Bytes.

According to Pollice, early in the development of Gothic Remake, various ideas were considered, such as adding a mini-map, a character editor, and mini-games (like card games and fishing) to fill the world, but all were ultimately discarded.
"We took this very seriously. We thought about making it optional, but even that seemed wrong. If you want to know where you are, just open the map," Pollice explained the decision against a mini-map.

What the developers of Gothic Remake were not afraid to change was the English version of the game. Pollice believes that a poor translation was one reason why the original "Gothic" did not become a hit in English-speaking countries.
The German version of "Gothic" was characterized by a grounded, realistic writing style, which they tried to capture in the English release of Gothic Remake. The script was rewritten during the early production stages.

Compared to the original "Gothic," the remake will also feature a full quest journal and an expanded crafting system: in addition to weapon crafting, there will be an alchemy system for creating spells.
Gothic Remake will be released for PC ( downward API support (simultaneously with this in , ), PS5, Xbox Series X and S. It promises a handcrafted and responsive world, new stories, and expansions of old ones, graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5, and a full translation into Russian.
