Notepad++ is now available as a native application for macOS. It is a free text editor that supports multiple programming languages and is suitable for processing text data in general. No additional tools like Wine, Porting Kit, or emulation software are required to use it. This is a fully native application developed in compliance with the GNU license.
Thanks to the powerful text editing tool Scintilla, the Notepad++ program for Mac is written in Objective C++. To ensure high execution speed and minimal program size, native APIs of this platform are utilized.
The project development started on March 10, 2026. The program is distributed in the form of a universal binary file, signed with an Apple Developer ID certificate and approved by Apple. The program works on devices powered by Apple Silicon processors (M1–M5) as well as on computers with Intel processors. There are no data collection features, ads, or any other elements related to information transfer to third parties.
The plugin management system (as well as the plugins themselves) is supported in the Notepad++ version for macOS.
