Another experimental release has been published Wine 11.10 — compatibility layers for running Windows applications and games on Linux, macOS, and other Unix-like systems. The release came out on May 29, 2026 and continues the development branch after the stable Wine 11.0.
The main change is the upgrade of the built-in library VKD3D to version 2.0. VKD3D is used by Wine to implement Direct3D 12 on top of Vulkan, so this change is primarily important for Windows games and applications that use the Direct3D 12 graphics API.
Additionally, Wine 11.10 has re-implemented support XPath without using libxml2. This doesn't necessarily mean a complete rejection of libxml2 by Wine, but specifically XPath is now implemented differently, without this dependency in the respective component. The developers have also continued to improve compatibility VBScript, which is important for old installers, enterprise software, and applications that use Windows Script Host scripts.
A total of 17 bugs have been fixed in Wine 11.10. Among the notable fixes:resolved the inability to select a TWAIN source in
- IrfanView fixed issues with;
- Git for Windows , which could either work or crash depending on how it was launched;installer problems with
- Kodak EasyShare Family Tree Maker 2017, Foxit PhantomPDF Business 10.0 and resolved launch issues with;
- Vocaloid 6 fixed incorrect characters and potential crashes in;
- Photolemur 3 when working with language settings; fixed missing sound in videos from
- Star Wars Racer fixed rendering crashes in;
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic with framebuffer effects enabled; resolved crashes in
- Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties during introductory videos; fixed the generation of .desktop files for Wine that previously did not comply with the Desktop Entry specification;
- made corrections in Windows taskbar progress API and AppUserModelID functions;
- resolved a regression that caused TrackChecker-x64.exe to hang at startup, maxing out the CPU at 100%.
- Wine 11.10 is an experimental build. It is primarily interesting for regular users as a source of future improvements for the stable branch of Wine, Wine Staging, Proton, and gaming builds based on them. For testers and users of problematic Windows applications, the release may already be useful: especially if the application is tied to Direct3D 12, VBScript, old installers, or TWAIN scanning.
