After almost two years since the release of the last stable version (beta versions are released almost every month), a new stable version of the note-taking program OutWiker 4.0 has been published. A distinctive feature of the program is that notes are stored as directories with text files, and any number of files can be attached to each note. The program allows writing notes using various notations: HTML, wiki, Markdown (if the corresponding plugin is installed). Additionally, with the help of plugins, you can add the ability to place formulas in LaTeX format on wiki pages and insert code blocks with syntax highlighting for various programming languages.
The program is written in Python (the interface is based on wxPython), is distributed under the GPLv3 license, and is available in builds for Linux (snap and flatpak) and Windows.
Changes in version 4.0:
- new note tree;
- added the ability to change the order of notes using the mouse;
- added the ability to change the color of notes in the note tree;
- added the ability to change the font size in the note tree;
- added the ability to scale the note tree using the mouse wheel;
- additional icons have been added to the note tree, indicating that a note has been bookmarked or opened in read-only mode;
- a new plugin has been added that marks notes changed today with color or an additional icon;
- new tabs that can be arranged in multiple rows;
- appearance settings for tabs have been added;
- a new interface for selecting labels for the page has been added;
- added the ability to change the size of icons in the note tree and the size of buttons on the toolbar;
- a multitude of interface appearance settings have been added;
- new text styles for wiki pages have been added;
- new vector icons for notes have been added.
