Release of DXVK 3.0.1, implementing Direct3D 8/9/10/11 on top of the Vulkan API

The release of DXVK 3.0.1 is now available, providing an implementation of DXGI (DirectX Graphics Infrastructure), Direct3D 8, 9, 10, and 11, operating through a call translation to the Vulkan API. DXVK requires drivers that support Vulkan API 1.4, such as NVIDIA 575.51.02, Mesa AMD RADV 25.0, NVIDIA 25.1, and Intel ANV 25.1. DXVK can be used to run 3D applications and games on Linux using Wine, serving as a higher-performance alternative to the built-in Direct3D implementations in Wine that operate over OpenGL.

Key Changes:

  • The use of secondary command buffers is disabled on all desktop GPUs, slightly reducing performance in a small number of games with suboptimal MSAA anti-aliasing patterns, but resolving some rendering issues and GPU hangs.
  • Rendering regressions that occurred in D3D9-based games, such as Black Mesa, Gothic 3, and GTA IV, have been fixed.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when unloading D3D libraries while an active D3D device was present.
  • A workaround has blocked the appearance of an error in the Mesa driver ANV, which caused GPU hangs in some games on systems with Intel Alchemist and older GPUs. Descriptor buffers are enabled by default on systems with such GPUs, negatively impacting performance.
  • Resolved issues in the following games:
    • Empire Earth 2
    • Fallout 3
    • Fruit Ninja
    • Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
    • King’s Bounty: The Legend
    • Manhunt
    • Splinter Cell 3
    • Total War: Medieval II
