The release of GNU Wget2 version 2.3.0 has been published, which develops a completely rewritten and redesigned version of the program for automating recursive content downloads from GNU Wget. Wget2 offers a set of additional options, supports multi-threaded downloads, allows access to functionality via the libwget library, supports HTTP/2 and TLS 1.3 protocols, enables downloading only changed data, can save data from streaming servers, correctly handles internationalized domain names, and can re-encode downloaded content. The wget2 utility is distributed under the GPLv3+ license, while the library is under the LGPLv3+ license.
The new version focuses on bug fixes, with notable functionality changes including expanded support for the OS/2 platform, enabling link conversion in CSS with the option "—convert-links", support for the srcdoc attribute in the iframe element, parsing of HTML data-src and data-srcset tags, the "—spider -S" option for displaying headers without downloading content, and the "—progress=dot" option for visualizing download progress.
