The release of the lightweight distribution MX Linux 25.3 has been published, created as a result of collaboration among the communities formed around the antiX and MEPIS projects. The release is based on the Debian package base with improvements from the antiX project and packages from its own repository. The distribution allows you to choose between sysVinit and systemd initialization systems. It comes with custom tools for system configuration and deployment. Available for download are 64-bit builds (x86_64) with the Xfce desktop (2.7 GB), as well as builds with the KDE desktop (3.4 GB) and builds (2.3 GB) with the Fluxbox window manager.
In the new release:
- Synchronization with Debian package base 13.7 has been carried out. The Linux kernel has been updated to version 6.12.107.
- Builds with extended hardware support (AHS) have been updated, which come with Xfce, kernel 7.2 with patches from the liquorix project, and Mesa 26.1.4.
- The interface of the MX-Welcome, MX-Tools, and custom-toolbox utilities has been updated.
- The Verify-iso-sig utility has been added to check ISO images by digital signature.
- The MX-Theme-Colors utility has been added for creating custom color themes based on existing GTK themes.
