The Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.2 firmware has been released, continuing the development branch based on Ubuntu 24.04. The firmware is developed by the UBports project, which took over the development of the Ubuntu Touch mobile platform after Canonical distanced itself from it. The project is also working on an experimental port of the Unity 8 desktop, which has been renamed to Lomiri.
Among the changes in Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.2:
- Due to the compromise of the eMudhra certification authority, the root certificate list has been updated.
- Issues with caching AppArmor Mandatory Access Control rules have been resolved, which caused the Morph browser to stop launching after upgrading the system from version 24.04-1.5 to 24.04-2.0.
- Work has been done to prepare the VoLTE (Voice over LTE) stack for supporting voice transmission technologies over LTE networks in new smartphone models. Support for the AIDL IImsRadio interface has been added to the ofono-binder-plugin-ext-qti plugin.
- After new builds were created in the Gallery app 3.2.0, a regression was found that prevented the opening of albums containing photos. The issue has been fixed in Gallery version 3.2.1, which is recommended to be installed before updating to Ubuntu Touch 24.04-2.2 or 24.04-1.6.
