Micron has announced the 2200 series solid-state drives suitable for use in desktop computers, laptops, and mobile workstations.
The products are designed in the M.2 2280 format: dimensions are 22 × 80 mm. The devices are NVMe solutions utilizing the PCIe 3.0 x4 interface.
The drives are based on 64-layer 3D TLC flash memory chips (three bits of information per cell). They feature a proprietary controller ensuring high performance.
The claimed reading speed in sequential mode reaches 3000 MB/s, while the writing speed is 1600 MB/s.
The number of input/output operations per second (IOPS) when working with data blocks of 4 Kbytes is up to 240,000 for reading and up to 210,000 for writing.
The Micron 2200 family includes three drives – with capacities of 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB. Information can be encrypted using the AES algorithm with a 256-bit key. The devices' status can be monitored using S.M.A.R.T. tools.
Unfortunately, there is currently no information about the estimated price of the products.
