Microsoft plans to end support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020. However, there are hundreds of millions of PC users worldwide who have not yet upgraded to a more modern version of the OS. The recent update KB4493132 is intended to encourage them to do so.
After installing the update, the system will begin to remind the owner that support is soon to be ending. The developers assure that it will not be intrusive. There will also be an option to disable the notification, specifically the choice to "Never notify again."
It is important to understand that once support is terminated, Windows 7 will not gain compatibility with modern hardware components. Drivers will not be released for it, making it impossible to install 'seven' on new PCs. Furthermore, the lack of security updates will pose a risk of computer hacking.
Not only ordinary users but also companies could be affected by this. Only those who pay Microsoft for additional support for 3 more years will be safe. Therefore, users are left with two options: either risk their data or switch to 'ten.' The latter option will also entail a cost.
Windows 7 was released on October 22, 2009. Thus, it is nearly 10 years old today. The current version of Windows 10 is now running on almost 800 million devices. Once support for 'seven' ends, Microsoft will be able to accelerate reaching its long-stated goal of installing 'ten' on 1 billion devices.
