Last year, at the TC Sessions: Robotics 2018 conference held by TechCrunch, Boston Dynamics announced that SpotMini would be its first commercially available product, the updated version of which would embody its developments in the field of robotics accumulated over a ten-year period.
Yesterday at the TechCrunch Sessions: Robotics & AI event, company founder and CEO Marc Raibert took the stage to demonstrate the production version of the electric robot. The company plans to begin production of the SpotMini in July or August of this year, Raibert said. Last year, the company announced that it expects to produce about 2019 units of such robots in 100.
The robots are now rolling off the assembly line in beta versions and are being used for testing, and the company is still refining the SpotMini design. Pricing details for the new product will be announced this summer.
