Unisoc (formerly known as Spreadtrum) has introduced a new processor for mobile devices: the product is designated as Tiger T310.
The chip includes four compute cores in a dynamIQ configuration. It features one high-performance ARM Cortex-A75 core with a clock speed of up to 2.0 GHz and three energy-efficient ARM Cortex-A53 cores with a clock speed of up to 1.8 GHz.
The configuration of the graphics node is not disclosed. However, it is reported that the solution supports dual and triple camera systems.
The processor is designed for budget 4G smartphones. It is claimed to be compatible with cellular networks TDD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, CDMA, and GSM.
The chip will be manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) using a 12-nanometer process technology. It is asserted that the product provides a 20% energy savings compared to octa-core processors in the mainstream segment.
Devices based on the Unisoc Tiger T310 platform will support facial recognition functionality.
There is no information regarding the release dates of the first smartphones featuring the new processor in the commercial market.
