Last night, Firefox users an issue that arose with the browser's extensions. Existing plugins were inactive, and it was not possible to install new ones. The company reported that the issue was related to the expiration of a certificate. It was also stated that a solution is already in progress.
Currently, , the problem has been identified and a fix has been initiated. Everything will work automatically, and users do not need to take any active steps to restore their extensions. Additionally, it was advised against trying to remove and reinstall extensions, as this would delete all associated data.
So far, the fix is only available for regular desktop versions of Firefox. For Firefox ESR and Firefox for Android, a fix has not yet been formulated. Furthermore, there may be issues for versions of Firefox installed from packages in Linux distributions.
Users of Tor Browser have also encountered an issue. The NoScript add-on has stopped functioning. As a temporary solution, set the xpinstall.signatures.required entry to false in about:config.
To expedite the delivery of updates, it is recommended to go to Firefox Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Allow Firefox to install and run studies and enable study support, then check in about:studies that the hotfix-reset-xpi-verification-timestamp-1548973 study is active. After applying the patch, you can disable the studies.
