A new version of the Russian distribution Astra Linux Common Edition (CE), release 'Eagle', has been launched. Astra Linux CE is positioned by the developer as a general-purpose OS. The distribution is based on Debian, and its graphical environment is developed in-house, called Fly. Additionally, there are numerous graphical utilities to simplify system and hardware configuration. The distribution is commercial, but the CE edition is available for free for non-commercial use.
Key Changes:
- HiDPI support;
- grouping opened applications on the taskbar:
- ability to disable the logo on wallpapers;
- for kiosk mode, the ability to set parameters separately for each application has been added;
- improvements in the file manager fly-fm;
- a repository editor has been added to the system update utility;
- the size of the ISO image has been reduced from 4.2 GB to 3.75 GB;
- new packages have been added to the repository and over 1000 have been updated;
- the Linux kernel 4.19 has been added to the repository (the default kernel remains 4.15).
