Chairman of the Association of Data Market Participants Ivan Begtin reported that he has discovered about 360,000 records of personal data in the public domain. Among other things, personal data of some Russian politicians, bankers, businessmen, and other public figures were found.
The data leak was discovered after analyzing the websites of 8 state information systems. Users' personal data were found after examining the registries of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice, the registry of the 'Online Inspector' portal, the portal for government property trading by the FAS, and others. Begtin notes that the information on the scale of the data leak is inaccurate since one record often contains information about several users.
The discovered documents contain personal data of the first deputy chairman of the State Duma, Alexander Zhukov, co-chairman of the Skolkovo Foundation and former Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov, and the governor of the Ivanovo region, Stanislav Voskresensky. On the website of the Infrastructure and Educational Programs Fund, the passport data of the head of the state corporation 'Rosnano' Anatoly Chubais, as well as several top managers of the company, were found.
According to the researcher, data leaks occur due to errors in current legislation, miscalculations by web resource developers, and shortcomings in the work of regulatory and supervisory bodies. It should be noted that the disclosure of personal data violates the laws of the Russian Federation. Responsibility for such incidents is provided for by the Code of Administrative Offenses.
It has also become known that specialists from DeviceLock found a database of the travel service 'Sletat.ru' in the public domain. Currently, the database is closed, but some time ago, it contained the credentials of hundreds of travel agencies connected to the system. This data could have been used to gain access to clients' passport information as well as information about purchased tickets. The database also contained about 11,700 addresses of customer email accounts.
