ASRock will expand its Phantom Gaming motherboard series based on the Intel Z390 chipset with two new models: the flagship Z390 Phantom Gaming X and the more affordable Z390 Phantom Gaming 7. Both motherboards are designed for building high-performance gaming systems using Intel's eighth and ninth generation processors.
The Z390 Phantom Gaming 7 motherboard features a power subsystem with ten phases, while the flagship Z390 Phantom Gaming X has 14 power phases. In both cases, for additional power to the LGA 1151v2 processor socket, there is a set of 4- and 8-pin connectors. Both boards are also equipped with large aluminum heatsinks with heat pipes.
Each of the new models has four slots for DDR4 memory modules with speeds of up to 4300 MHz. The expansion slot set includes three PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, plus two or three PCI Express 3.0 x1 slots for the Z390 Phantom Gaming X and Gaming 7 models, respectively. For connecting storage devices, there are eight SATA III ports, as well as three M.2 slots on the flagship and two on the more affordable model. The M.2 slots come with aluminum heatsinks, and the Z390 Phantom Gaming X model also features a large shroud with RGB lighting.
It's also worth noting that the Z390 Phantom Gaming X motherboard is equipped with a wireless Wi-Fi 802.11ax controller, also known as Wi-Fi 6, as well as Bluetooth 5.0. The Z390 Phantom Gaming 7 board only has an M.2 Key E slot for a wireless module. Networking in each new model is handled by a 2.5-gigabit Realtek Dragon RTL8125AG controller and a gigabit Intel I219V controller, while the flagship model also includes another gigabit Intel I211AT controller. The audio subsystem in both cases is based on the Realtek ALC1220 codec.
The new ASRock motherboards will be available for sale at the end of this month. The price for the Z390 Phantom Gaming 7 will be nearly $200, while the flagship Z390 Phantom Gaming X will retail for a full $330.
