Back in March, Microsoft first announced the release of Microsoft Defender ATP for Mac. Now, after internal testing of the product, the company has announced the release of a public preview version.
Microsoft Defender has added localization in 37 languages, improved performance, and enhanced protection against unauthorized access. Virus samples can now be sent through the main interface of the program, where feedback can also be submitted. Additionally, the system has learned to track the status of client products more effectively. Administrators can manage protection remotely from anywhere in the world, not just from the US.
It is noted that Microsoft Defender ATP can run on devices operating macOS Mojave, macOS High Sierra, or macOS Sierra. During the preview testing period, Microsoft Defender ATP for Mac will allow end users to view and adjust protection settings. There is currently no information on the release date of the final version.
Notably, Microsoft is actively working to port its products to third-party operating systems. Recently, it launched the Canary version of the Edge browser based on Chromium, specifically designed for Macs. While it only works on Mojave, the fact that the Redmond company is expanding into Apple hardware is indisputable.
