According to International Data Corporation (IDC), sales in the global printing equipment market (Hardcopy Peripherals, HCP) are declining.
The presented statistics cover the supply of various types of traditional printers (laser, inkjet), multifunction devices, and copiers. Devices in A2–A4 formats are considered.
It is reported that in the first quarter of this year, the global market volume in unit terms amounted to 22.8 million units. This is approximately 3.9% lower than last year's result, when shipments were 23.8 million units.
The leading supplier is HP: in the first three months of this year, the company sold 9.4 million printing devices, which corresponds to 41% of the global market.
In second place is Canon Group with 4.3 million units shipped and a market share of 19%. Approximately similar results were shown by Epson, which ranks third.
In fourth place is Brother with shipments of 1.7 million units and 7% of the market. Rounding out the top five is Kyocera Group, with sales of about 0.53 million units, corresponding to a 2% share.
