Galaxy Microsystems has introduced two new versions of the GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card in China, which feature a rather unusual blue color. One of the new models is called the GeForce RTX 2070 Mini and is quite compact, while the other is called the GeForce RTX 2070 Metal Master (literal translation from Chinese) and is a full-size model. Interestingly, Galax had previously showcased a model , in an even more compact form factor.
Both graphics cards are built on custom-designed PCB layouts from Galaxy. The more compact GeForce RTX 2070 Mini has a shortened board, equipped with a power subsystem with 6+2 phases and an 8-pin supplemental power connector. The GeForce RTX 2070 Metal Master is built on a full-size board and has a similar power subsystem.
The compact GeForce RTX 2070 Mini features a cooler with a pair of fans, an aluminum heatsink, and three copper heat pipes that make direct contact with the GPU. The cooler slightly extends beyond the PCB, resulting in an overall length of 190 mm, making this model one of the most compact GeForce RTX 2070s. Even the Zotac RTX 2070 Mini measures 211 mm in length.
On the other hand, the GeForce RTX 2070 Metal Master has a larger cooling system with three fans that cool three heatsinks, again with three heat pipes running through them. Notably, the heat pipes are assembled into a copper base. The length of the graphics card is 263 mm. Both models feature a reinforcing backplate, and the fans have lighting. The selection of video outputs is quite modest: there is only one each of DVI-D, HDMI 2.0b, and DisplayPort 1.4.
The manufacturer has not overclocked the GeForce RTX 2070 Mini and RTX 2070 Metal Master graphics cards. The clock frequency of the Turing TU106-400 GPU is 1410/1620 MHz, while the 8 GB of GDDR6 memory operates at a frequency of 1750 MHz (effective frequency of 14 GHz). Galax notes that users will be able to overclock the new models using proprietary software that supports automatic overclocking with OC Scanner.
The price and release date for the Galax GeForce RTX 2070 Mini and RTX 2070 Metal Master graphics cards have yet to be specified. It’s worth noting that outside of China, the new models may appear in somewhat different forms.
