- "Video" tests continuous video playback in full screen until the battery is discharged;
- "Gaming" simulates constant heavy loads, resulting in minimal battery life;
- "Idle" refers to inactivity, indicating the upper limit of battery life.
Comparing battery life profiles provides an optimal understanding of a device's relative advantages. Battery life profiles will also assist users in selecting models that best meet their needs.
The second test focuses on evaluating performance in Microsoft Office-related tasks. Procurement managers in enterprises and government IT clients often like to test and compare PC performance in the applications they use daily. The PCMark 10 Applications test is a new assessment based on Microsoft Office applications, designed to measure practical PC performance in a modern workplace:
- Word covers typical text tasks of office workers — measuring PC performance when opening, editing, and saving documents;
- Excel focuses on spreadsheet tasks — the test evaluates interactions with both a simple and a more complex spreadsheet, targeting experienced users;
- PowerPoint covers general tasks involved in working with presentations. The test measures the performance of the PC when editing a richly image-laden PowerPoint presentation.
- The Edge test checks the speed of browsing websites, social media, online stores, mapping services, and videos.
Both tests can be used on computers running Windows 10 ARM, and the results are expected to be directly comparable to those of regular PCs with x86 processors.
