Wave Computing (formerly MIPS Technologies, which was acquired by Imagination Technologies and later regained independent status after its restructuring) announced the publication of the source code for MIPS32 microAptiv processor cores under the MIPS Open initiative.
The code has been published for two classes of cores:
- microAptiv MCU core – a microcontroller core for real-time embedded systems.
- microAptiv MPU core – includes a cache controller and memory management unit (MMU), enabling the execution of full-fledged operating systems like Linux.
- MIPS Open architecture document
- MIPS Open IDE development environment (versions for Linux and Windows)
- MIPS Open FPGA packages — for running MIPS Open cores on FPGAs
- Source code for microAptiv UP Core and microAptiv UC Core in hardware description language Verilog
To download, you need to accept the license agreement and register on the website.
Previously, Wave Computing announced the launch of the MIPS Open, under which participants will be able to produce their own cores based on MIPS architecture without the need to pay for compliance certification, purchase the source code of the cores, pay other licensing fees, and will also have access to the source code of existing MIPS cores developed by Wave Computing.
