A new release of the CNC milling machine control system I have been developing has occurred. This release mainly addresses the shortcomings and bugs from the previous version.NoRT CNC Control has been released.)
Improvements:
- The motion velocity scheduler has been redesigned. The new scheduler fully analyzes movement from start to finish, taking into account the curvature of arcs during curved movement and selecting the maximum allowable speed within the established limits to ensure that the maximum permissible accelerations are not exceeded.
- Part of the configuration that was stored in the RT section on the microcontroller has been completely transferred to Python code.
- Issues with losing focus in the UI during manual command input have been fixed.
- It is now possible to independently emulate the spindle and the coordinate table.
- Bugs related to machine states during manual command input have been corrected.
- The message sending cycle to the coordinate table and spindle has been adjusted, with correct handling of the reset signal and processing of reset messages from the microcontroller.
- CRC has been added to the protocol for interaction with the microcontroller.
- The system now shuts down when the USB serial port is disconnected if interaction with the microcontroller occurs through it—previously, the system would start a cycle of reading the already non-existent ttyUSB0.
- Movements are now blocked after rebooting the microcontroller. To unblock, a special command must be sent to the microcontroller. This command is transmitted at the start of G-code execution, thus preventing incorrect motion in the event of an unexpected MCU reboot during movement.
Alongside writing the code, I am already using the machine under its control. Recently, I milled parts for a glider model. Therefore, this code is already in practical use.
